Just took my dogs back to the vet for their annual exam. Vet looked in their mouths and commented how clean their teeth were and had I been doing anything different. He nodded in recognition when I told him that I had been using CET water additive and occasional CET chews. No discussion about needed dental work this time! Yea! Xylitol, a natural sugar, is great for teeth - it remineralize enamel before cavities can form. However, this great dental product is also deadly to dogs. Even just a small amount can cause liver failure and kill dogs within a small amount of time.There are no studies that show it is harmful to cats, and it most likely will help their teeth. This water additive seems to help puppy breath in my Dalmatian. I just add a little bit to the water as directed and she drinks it.One warning however...my other Dalmatian was taking Flagyl (metronidazole) for intestinal parasites and drank some water with this, and he began foamimg at the mouth, and was in distress. I think that one of the ingredients in the additive interacts with the Flagyl and makes dogs sick. |
